JOIN THE TEAM!
The Mississippi MUTTS Leadership Team is a group of dedicated volunteers who work together to fulfill our mission by facilitating the rescue, foster, and transport of animals as well as community outreach through social media, events, and fundraising. All Leadership Team members must be willing to go above and beyond their basic responsibilities and act as a MUTTS representative in the community.
Animal Admissions Manager
The Animal Admissions Manager must be equal parts multi-tasking and time management pro, mediator, researcher, and negotiator while always working to achieve strategic goals as outlined by the organization. For animals entering Mississippi MUTTS either directly or through our Community Resource program, the Animal Admissions Manager helps determine placement pathways by documenting key information about the animal’s history, known behavior, and habits and communicates with a variety of departments to ensure everyone has what they need to help our animals succeed.
The foster program is one of the major programs enabling Mississippi MUTTS to save lives and is an extremely important role in the organization as we grow. The role of the Foster Coordinator is to oversee the process of placing animals in outside foster care whether for medical, hospice, transport, behavioral or quarantine reasons. This position has an extensive amount of interfacing with our volunteer base.
Community Resource Coordinator
Through progressive leadership and a client focused approach, the Community Resource Coordinator sets the tone for providing services to our community members, and leaders of other shelters/rescues, who are often experiencing pet care crises and need a safe space and sympathetic ear with whom they can explore their options. We want every animal to have a live outcome and the Community Resource Coordinator helps give the owner or caregiver of a pet the tools they need to help ensure that pet has an opportunity for adoption, rehoming, or SNVR. The Community Resource Coordinator helps determine placement pathways to help every pet have an opportunity for success, even if we cannot help them in the traditional sense. By putting the solution for pet overpopulation in the hands of OUR community, the Community Resource Coordinator will slowly but steadily change culture and ultimately save lives.
The foster program is one of the major programs enabling Mississippi MUTTS to save lives and is an extremely important role in the organization as we grow. The role of the Foster Support Lead is to oversee the day to day management of foster animals and ensure that foster homes are stocked with supplies. This role also supports foster home volunteers, from the time the pet in placed in foster care until the time they are adopted, transported, etc . This position has an extensive amount of interface with our volunteer base.
The Animal Transport Coordinator participates in the transport of all animals to and from off-site adoption locations, shelter facilities and media/adoption events. Coordinates the transport animals to certain non-Mississippi MUTTS locations (IE Transfer Partners) and assists other departments in transportation needs.
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, assists in training, and manages volunteers for various Mississippi MUTTS programs and services. The volunteers recruited, oriented, and trained by the volunteer coordinator should reflect a balance of college students, local community members, community service organizations, and others who can participate in a range of volunteer service projects. Volunteer service duties include one-day, short-term, and long-term opportunities to positively contribute to the mission of our organization.
Marketing & Communications Manager
In this role, you’ll help us grow our audience and oversee the delivery of marketing and communications across channels as well as be an active and enthusiastic support resource for various marketing and business needs. Reporting to the Manager of Development, our Marketing & Communications Manager will be hands on with brainstorming ideas for engagement and growth as well as creating and executing on daily content across marketing channels including email, social media, and print. The ideal candidate is creative, scrappy (you not only find a way to make it happen, but you find a way to make it excellent... and with little resources), and is as eager to strategize with the MUTTS team to generate ideas and to execute on them and report back with results.
Empathy is crucial, as this role will often act as the conduit between our brand and audience across media platforms. Also critical is a strong familiarity with the changing social media landscape as you will be responsible for keeping abreast of the latest trends in the space and effectively developing strategies to utilize them for the success of department and organization-wide objectives. This is a unique position that will exercise your left and right brain, as you’ll have the chance to use your creativity and logic on a daily basis. Proactive self-starters only please.
We’re a roll-your-sleeves-up, hands-on team seeking the right fit for our collaborative, virtual environment. We work remotely, so a quiet home office set-up is imperative. We offer mega-flexibility with the ability to work from anywhere, but ideally you are in Mississippi and able to meet with the team on occasion. All that being said... this is a volunteer position, HOWEVER... you will get to help us save the lives of homeless pets in Mississippi and beyond! What could be more rewarding?!?
The Event Coordinator identifies and orchestrates all community events, on a variety of scales, that promote the mission of Mississippi MUTTS and/or raises funds for the organization. Community events invite the public into our mission!
Working closely with Event Coordinators and Marketing and Communications Managers, the Fundraising Coordinator encourages the community to donate towards the Mississippi MUTTS mission. The Fundraising Coordinator must be outgoing and have exceptional interpersonal skills to network and make connections with donors and supply partners.
The Records Manager will periodically track inventory of MUTTS supplies to ensure that all programs are stocked with the necessary supplies to save lives. The Records Manager will constantly communicate with other team members to document fundraising, event success, rescue numbers, and community outreach.
